Sewn talks to Jina and CIndy from Riley Blake Designs about this wonderful new fabric company producing funky, modern fabrics!

  

Riley Blake Q & A

Please tell us a little about Riley Blake?
Bret and Cindy are the owners of Riley Blake Designs. Bret grew up in the fabric industry. For the past 10 years they have owned Christensen Wholesale. Five years ago they started manufacturing their own fabric, Alpine Fabrics. A year and half ago they launched Riley Blake Designs, which is high end quilting fabrics in cotton and flannel. Jina was hired to run the design team for Riley Blake Designs. Jina and Cindy coordinate with the designers to come up with the prints for Riley Blake Designs.

Do you sew or craft yourselves? What kind of craft do you love most to produce?
Jina has quilted for over 20 years and before that done every king of craft and sewing project possible. Cindy has taken up quilting as a new project and is addicted.

What is the first thing you remember creating?
I remember creating doll clothing and Cindy has done a lot of cross stitch.

Do you make artwork yourselves?
I do have my own pattern company called Butterfly Kisses where I produce the things I used to make for my girls when they were little. I have always created. I like to take old things and make them beautiful again. I love to refurbish old furniture with paint and fabric. I love hand appliqué and use it to embellish quilts and clothing. Cindy has recently become addicted to the quilting world now that she lives in it and is learning to hand appliqué. Before that she did a lot of cross stitch.

Tell us about Riley Blake’s stable of designers.
Our designers include independent artists and collaboration with scrapbook companies.
